Springtime Wishlist

Now I know the weather is still miserable, but still a girl can't help but begin to plan for her springtime/summer wardrobe, and with so many summer items dribbling into stores, it's hard to our eyes not to sway and wish for some sunshine!

New Look
Floral Cut Out Wedge £24.99
These wedges are super cute and would look equally fab paired with a cute summer dress or a pair of jeans on those chillier days. The heels seem rather high but a 3cm platform would make this heel feel less dramatic on the feet.

Daisy Flora Shorts £17.99
These shorts are a great transitional item, they can be worn with a pair of tights to protect from the chilly winds then come summer can be paired with a cute pair of pumps or sandals.

Daisy Embroidery Jumper £21.99
I adore this jumper, also available in black. However I love the clean crisp white look with the contrasting pink flowers, injecting a springtime feel into those chilly days.

This cardigan would make a lovely cover up for a plain summer dress to inject a bit of pattern.

Dorothy Perkins
Mid Wash Denim Ruched Dress £28.00
I have decided that a denim dress is a must have in my SS11 wardrobe and for my this fits the bill. I love how it is fitted under the bust with a fuller skirt. A denim dress is so versatile, and a different look can be achieved every time by layering with different cardigans such as the one from Peacocks or adding a pop of colour with some cute pumps.

Light Wash Ruched Skirt £22
Similar to the denim dress, this denim skirt is another versatile choice for a spring summer wardrobe. The ruched waist makes this dress perfect for tucking in items and would look cute with a floral tank or pussybow blouse tucked in.

So what are your sought after items for your SS wardrobe?

Batiste Tones & Batiste Brit Review

So the lovely people at Batiste sent me some of their latest products to try. The ones I received were medium and brunette hair & dark and deep brown hair of the Batiste Tones range and Batiste Brit.

Batiste Tones is used in the same way as a normal dry shampoo - banishing oily roots, however it is pigmented to allow easier blending and prevent tell tale white marks in the hair. There are 3 in the range, the two I received and one for light and blonde hair specific for blonde hair.
These are slightly more expensive than the other dry shampoo's of the Batiste range retailing at £3.05, but are still cheaper than many other dry shampoo's on the market.

Spray around 30cm away from hair
Massage with fingers, leave for a few minutes
Brush out

My application
I used dark and deep brown on the left side of my hair, and medium to brunette on the right of my hair.
After application
I immediately noticed the difference the pigment had, my hair appeared less white with the product on my hair.
After massaging
The product took less rubbing in than the normal dry shampoo due to the pigment making any left product left in my hair less noticeable.
After brushing
A quick brush left my hair feeling silky and soft. Both of the 2 shades I received blended well with my hair despite my hair having a red sheen. The pigment is enough to banish white marks yet doesn't have a change to the colour of your hair.

I would advise to use this before putting any make up on due to the pigment as it can get onto your skin (I was left with a dirty forehead).
I would also advise washing your hands after using to prevent it transferring onto your clothes. However if it does get onto them, removal shouldn't be a problem, on the can it states the product can be easily removed with a little soap and water.

The thing I would advise with this Shampoo is that if you are looking for the product to leave a fragrance in your hair then tones isn't the one for you as it isn't heavily fragranced like others in the range. However, Batiste Brit would be the one for you

Batiste Brit is similar to the original dry shampoo we all know and love but with what is described as a "quintessentially British fragrance". I'm having trouble in describing the fragrance, an almost flowery and powdery smell. It really is lush and fresh. The design on the bottle is fab - definately a winner for me, a union jack flag to sit proudly on your dressing table!
Batiste Brit is available for £2.13 exclusively from Superdrug, and with a current offer of 3 for £3.49 it means you can also try some of the other great fragrances offered.

Butterflies - Outfit Post

So, this dress is what I wore yesterday. I shown you a picture of this when I purchased it online in the Dorothy Perkins sale, and I absolutely LOVE it!
This is the second time I've worn this dress. The first time I paired it with some black tight but yesterday I decided to add a pop of colour with some pink tights from the New Look sale (£1.50)
These super cute earrings were also a sale purchase and cost a mere £1!

The polish I am wearing is Champagne by Model's Own. I love how it adds a bit of bling to your nails but isn't too garish making it a perfect gold tone for tanless people like myself. This polish was a bargain £3 from ASOS and came with a 6-sided nail buffer.

I plan on another blog post later, featuring the new Batiste Tones so keep a look out for that.

Enjoy your day!

Hair Post

Hey guys, hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend was rather relaxed so yesterday evening the fella and I went for a chinese buffet which was lovely!
Friday involved a shopping trip, which resulted in rather little being bought, never the less it was fun. I came home with a tum full of NANDO's. 5 pairs of tights, 2 treats from Lush and a dress from Primark (wore it over the weekend but my camera was dead so never took a pic! Damn!)

Today I thought I would share with you my haircare. My hair is rather long so people often assume that I use a lot of products to keep it in good condition, but the truth is I am very minimalistic when it comes to my hair. I'm very luck in that my hair naturally dries straight so my GHD's very rarely touch it. However a place in which I'm unlucky is that it gets greasy farrrr too quickly, I used to wash my hair every day until I discovered the beauty that is Batiste Dry Shampoo! You simply spray it on your roots, rub it in and brush your hair!

This product really is a saviour and allows me to refresh my hair between washes, reducing my hair washing to every other day! Yesterday was one of them days where I showered but didn't wash my hair, I took a close up pic of my roots after using Batiste to show you how effective it is.

My hair looks shiny, and smells fresh, without any white marks in sight.

A few weeks back I posted a close up pic of my new hair colour, after several years of not colouring my hair I decided it was time for a change. The colour I chose was Red Passion by Schwarzcopf XXL Live (2 for £7 at Boots).

As my hair is dark the colour on my hair isn't as intense as it is on the box but I really do love this colour. I have previously used colours from them range and found them very effective and colour lasting. However as this colour was red, and reds are known to fade rather quickly I decided to invest in a Shampoo and Conditioner specified for coloured hair. I has heard good things from friends about the Aussie haircare range so when I saw it on offer I decided it was a great opportunity to try it out. I picked up a Shampoo and Conditioner from their Limited Edition Colour Mate Range. (2 for £6 Boots)

I was slightly put off by the fact the shampoo was 300ml and the conditioner 250ml as having such long hair I often find that the conditioner runs out wayyy before the shampoo. However this is not the case with this conditioner. The conditioner is thick and creamy so a little goes a long way. A 50p size blob is enough to run through the length of my hair leaving it feeling silky. The shampoo too is also great, lathering up well making your hair feel fresh and clean. With both the shampoo and conditioner containing extracts of wild peach, it leaves your hair smelling lush!
In keeping my colour locked in, Aussie really was a great investment, it's been almost 4 weeks since I dyed my hair and I have seen no apparent fade to my hair colour (as shown below) Also after using at least 4 times a week for almost 4 weeks I still have over half a bottle too of each too!

After Dying
4 Weeks after dying
Please account for different lighting, but as you can see there is little/no fade to my colour.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the day, and enjoy reading this post. I'm trying to add a bit of variety to my blog. I would appreciate your feedback on this post, and it would be interesting to know what you enjoy about my blog, what it may be missing, what you may like to see more of :)

Outfit post - Dorothy Perkins

Hey guys, really sorry for the rubbish quality photo today, had to take it with the integrated aka.poor quality webcam of my laptop as no one was around to take a pic for me and I don't own a tripod!

Just wanted to show you this new dress I bought from Dorothy Perkins with some Christmas Dosh (people know what a clothes/shoes hoarder I am so money/gift vouchers are always an easy option) Now I wore this outfit yesterday, the delivery man came with my parcel and I soon as I tried the dress on I fell in  love and had to wear it that very day!

I was lucky enough when I ordered this dress that I received 15% discount on a "New In" promotion THEN I also got 20% student discount so the dress cost me around £25! I love a bargain!

I also am wearing a pair of boots from dorothy perkins but the camera doesn't pick them up well so I shall show you in my next post :)

Hope your all looking forward to a great weekend and enjoy your friday. I'm off to spend the day shopping with a friend :) and plan on a trip to LUSH for goodies!

Wednesday, 19 January 2011

Hey everyone, I'm back. I apologise again for my dire lack of posting due to exams, but with my last one being yesterday full blogging will resume. I want to thank you all for your well wishes in my exams, not sure how well I have done, an infection in the nerve of a tooth deciding to make an appearance the day before my first exam didn't help matter. Fortunately doping up on paracetamol and ibuprofen after a trip to the dentist only hours before my exam managed to dampen the situation.

Well, I would like to thank you all for following, it really does mean so much that you take an interest in my blog, and gaining followers despite my hiatus was a lovely welcomed surprise :)

So, the lovely Lisa-Jane from The Brunette Diaries presented me with the versatile blogger award. I was so greatful to receive this especially considering how new I am to the blogging world.

So the rules are I am to
1. Thank and link back to who gave me the award
2. Share 7 things about myself
3. Pass it along to 7 blogs I've recently discovered and enjoy
4. Leave your recipient a note, telling them about the award.

Seven things about me
1. I am a huuuuge animal lover, I currently have 5 cats, 2 guinea pigs, a rabbit, a canary, 2 budgies and 2 fish.

2. I hate stereotypes of "single parent family's". I was brought up solely by my Mum and passed all my GCSE's with flying colours, went to college and I am currently studying Biomedical Science at university in the hope of entering the field of lab research, hopefully in Cancer research.

3. My Mum is my closest friend, she is the one I can tell anything to without fear of judgement. She's the person who is there for me no matter what, she always has and always will be my best friend.

4. Other than my Mum, the person who I know I can also rely on is my FiancĂ© Martin. Being with him really has changed my life for the better. He has helped me gain so much confidence in myself, and I couldn't imagine my life without him.

5. I always get lots of comments on my car by strangers due to it being baby pink!

6. I have a huge obsession with anything Spongebob, Minnie Mouse or Butterflies!

7. I'm not sure of the extent of my shoe collection but I own over 50 pairs!

I present this award to
I appreciate that some of you may have already received this award or may not wish to participate, but if I am giving you this award it is because I throughly enjoy and look forward to reading your latest posts.

Wants of the week...Dorothy Perkins

Upon rummaging around the Dorothy Perkins website, I have decided that after my exams at uni are over, a shopping trip to DP's is much needed. So many lovely things on their site!

Gold Owl Earrings £7.50
Silver Owl Earrings £7.50
Tan Pussybow Blouse £23
Coral 60's style tunic £28
Oatmeal Giraffe Sweatshirt was £26 now £15!

The owl earrings are adorable, I couldn't decide which of the two I preferred most!

The pussybow blouse would look great with my tan wedgies I am waiting delivery of from New Look.

I adore the colour of this tunic and it is such a great item, plenty of room for accessorising to dress it up or down!

This Giraffe Jumper I found was so cute.
