My first Matalan Order

I have just made my very first online Matalan order!

Yesterday I was rather heartbroken in that finding since last summer I have somehow gained a few inches in height and dresses I bought last summer, their hemlines are now somewhat inappropriate and make me look (in the words of my Mother) like "big bird" lol.

So to make up for the loss of these dresses from my wardrobe I decided to pop onto the Matalan website in the hope of purchasing a few new dresses :) The following beauties made their way into my basket.....
Be Beau Eden Flower Mint Prom Dress - £25

Be Beau Oranges and Lemons Dungaree Dress - £23
Be Beau Print Tiered Maxi - £25
For you students who don't know already...Matalan offer 10% student discount! Meaning I saved £7.30 and I also received free delivery for spending over £50....double win!

Hope your all enjoying the sunny weather...I'm off to sit in the garden and write some notes before enjoying a Saturday games night with the other half and his family!

Fancy a cup of tea?

Now, I really am such an old lady when it comes to tea....I love the stuff! Strong yet milky without the sugar!!
So when I saw this super cute necklace in New Look I couldn't resist, a teapot and a cute mirror....into my basket it went!

Top - Primark
Skirt - New Look
(Not quite sure what's going on with my face here, please excuse hehe)

Today I'm off out with a friend for her birthday. We're investing in a spot of shopping and also going to gorge ourselves on pizza and cake! Hurray!

I've now got 50 of you lovely followers so I shall be on the hunt for a few little goodies to celebrate of which one of you lucky people can win so watch this space!

Hope you all have a lovely day, what are your plans?

Why I began blogging

I just thought I'd share with you guys what it was that spurred me into creating my blog. I'm now so close to 50 followers and I really really enjoy blogging and receiving all your lovely feedback and can't wait to arrange a giveaway to thank you guys!

The reason I begun blogging was after the very first blog I ever followed (via facebook) EJStyle moved home and jobs and so took a break from blogging (She's back now - yay!). Emma's facebook page was one I would go to everyday to look for links on new blog posts/ootd etc. so when her blogging stopped I was lacking my daily fashion fix.
To fill the gap that was in my life I decided to hunt on the internet for some new blogs.
A few caught my eye and so after a few weeks I decided to create a google account to follow them all and create my own blog and so Science Geek Chic was born! :) I was nearing the end of my 4 weeks notice at work and thought I would make the most of a bit of spare time and something to distract me from studies, I enjoyed shopping and wearing clothes so why not share my joy with those who shared my passion?

Creating my blog was one of the best things ever, it provides a welcome distraction from work and as much as I love science, it's good to have something to write about other than it! I have met some absolutely wonderful people through blogging, some of which I would call friends so I would again like to thank you all.

I'm also interested if any of you wish to share....why did you start blogging?

Much love,

Red Red Wiiiine!

First of all the title....these tights I adore the colour and they looked fab with the flower detail of this dress. They were only £2 on Sale in Wilkinsons and are Wine by  Pretty Polly. However one of my cats tried to jump on my knee and created a pull in them which is think is going to turn into a huge hole and what do you know???? None left in store grrrrr....knew I should have stocked up!

Secondly, my apologies for the lack of a proper outfit piccie, these are the best I could get. I really should invest in a tripod. Can you buy one that fits all cameras??

Dress - Peacocks (Belt included!)
Tights - Pretty Polly
Necklace - courtesy of amilliondresses
Cardigan - H&M
How pretty and girly is the print on this dress? It's the same style as this bird dress I wore but is for some reason £2. I managed to get them both for 20% thanks to the wonder that is an NUS card.

Birds of a Feather

This outfit is one I wore over the weekend but never got chance to post. The weather was lovely on Saturday and at 6pm when I headed out there was still no need to wear a jacket.

Dress - Peacocks - £20
Tights - New Look
Brogues - New Look - £19.99

In keeping with the bird theme of the dress I wore this cute bird necklace my younger brother bought me for Christmas a few years back.

As I've mentioned previously I'm a real sucker when it comes to animal themed clothing/jewellery. Are any of you like this?
