Festival Fever

Ok, so I'm not going to any festivals this year and infact I've never been to one, but we're amidst Festival season so I thought I'd do a little post on a few festival must haves!

1. South Fringe Waistcoat - Very - £14 I love the hippie vibe of this waistcoat and think it would be perfect to add a touch of style to a festival outfit. It would also work well over many a maxi dress for a garden barbeque.

2. Shorts - Dorothy Perkins - £15 Shorts are obviously a must have for a festival but I love the plait detail along with the darkened and frayed hem of these!

3. T Shirt - New Look - £8.99 Typical Groupie Tee! Perfect for a festival?!

4. Wellies - New Look - £19.99 Wellies are a must have for a festival and living in a field for the weekend. Who said they had to be boring? Got to inject a bit of glamour with some leopard!

5. Batiste Dry Shampoo Boho £2.99 for 300ml (available at all good chemists, Boots and Superdrug)- Dry shampoo would be my ultimate must have for a festival! No shower for a weekend = greasy hair (yuk!) and this is the perfect fragrance for a festival as it is a very edgy and vibrant scent. It has fruity top notes of lemon, orange and passionflower. Aromatic middle notes of spiced jasmine, lily and heliotrope leading to woody base notes combine with vanilla and musk. It is the perfect hippy fragrance so is most suited of all the batiste range for festival season!
The 150ml cans are available at ASOS for £2.25

New York Color

So the other day I popped into superdrug to pick up some clear nail polish. The one I've been using for probably the past year is NYC in a minute quick dry top coat, otherwise known as Grand Central Station. This polish has served me well but now has got to the stage where the brush barely touches the polish (why are brushes always 5-6mm too short for the bottle?!?) and the polish looks a little cloudy and can be "stringy" when pulling the brush out of the bottle. The polish still transforms well on the nail but for the sake of a couple of quid I decided to repurchase.

I remembered the polish to be around £3 but in store discovered it was only £1.79 as they have dropped their prices. In addition to this, there was also an offer on that with the purchase of 2 NYC nail polishes you could get a kiss gloss worth around £2. I decided that with the polishes being so cheap I would pick up an extra polish to get the free lipgloss.

I decided on Park Avenue for the polish which is a brown (with a purple undertone?) as it's a colour unlike any of my others which are rather bright or colourful. For a gloss I picked up Murray Hill Melon which I was surprised by.
Left  - gloss applied to bottom lip. Right - gloss applied to both. (apologies for right picture being over exposed)
The gloss for the price is rather well pigmented. I expected it to be really thick and sticky but it isn't. The packaging says "shiny lips in fruity flavours". For me there is no taste to the product, when applying there is a fruity scent that is accompanied by a slight chemical fragrance but both these disappear once the product is applied. The longevity of the product is also surprisingly good. I'd definitely recommend trying these out for less than £2 and they would be good for layering over a lipstick.

I'm yet to try the brown polish yet, but I will let you know when I eventually do.

Is NYC a brand you've ever purchased from? I noticed their lipsticks are only £1.50 so I may pick up one or two or them to try.

Shopping Haul!

So, I finally got my exam results the other day and I was ecstatic with how will I done and still can't believe I managed to get the results I did! To think I was worried I would fail an exam. Anyway to celebrate I decided to treat myself to a small spot of shopping, and a day out with my Mum. (I say celebrate but I would have bought regardless of results but it's always good to have a good excuse for shopping hehe)

So what did I buy I hear you ask?

I was lucky enough in that both these palettes were in stock. The Curacao from the Caribbean collection isn't actually due to be released until the 6th I think and I was told by Sleek on twitter that when this is released the Monaco Palette from the Mediterranean collection will no longer be available.
I'm unsure of the price of these as the shelf said £6.49 but they went through the till at £6.99 until I mentioned the price tag on the shelf of which was then honoured and I received 10% student discount making them £5.85 each

This shower gel was only 90p! (It also provided 10 beauty points) I bought it as I'm in love with their shampoo and conditioner of the same fragrance that I've been using as I've been suffering from a dry, flaky (eurgh) scalp since exams but their shampoo clears it right up thanks to it's tea tree and minty goodness!

I also bought hayfever tablets (BOGOF) as I've developed hay fever this year. I originally was suffering from extremely puffy eyes and now cold like symptoms have developed (boo hiss!)

New Look

So we all now how much I love New Look shoes and when I saw these babies I was in LOVE! Down from £24.99 to only £8. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to wear them with yet but I couldn't leave them in the shop!

Now I love, love, love this dress! At £25 it's the most expensive thing I've bought from Primark however it was worth every single penny! Firstly I don't think it looks like a Primark item and secondly it most definately doesn't feel like it. The material is thick and of quality. The stitching is good and the dress is also fully lined and has a region of netting to give that true 50's look. Whilst wearing this dress I feel like I should be singing a number from Grease. It's the kind of dress I wanted for my 21st but as that's the end of August I don't think I can leave this beauty waiting for 2 months for me to wear it!

These shoes were in the sale from £12 to £6. I really love red shoes and especially these as they are so shiny. Sadly there was only around 4 pairs left on the shelf and none of those were my size. However a young girl was straightening shoes nearby and so I asked her if there happened to be any more and she was really helpful and looked in the stockroom for me and what would you know they had my size!

Well I hoped you enjoyed this little haul, sorry it's been rather wordy I'm just really fond of my new purchases and chuffed to have got all this for less than £50! Hope you have all done well in any exam results that you may have received!
