Feeling all Minnie

When I saw this dress I fell in love. Very Minnie-Mouse esque!
It's a bit shorter than I would typically wear but the thick black tights make me feel a lot more comfortable.

Dress & Tights - Primark
Shoes - Peacocks
Bracelet - Borrowed from my Mum :p

Sorry you can't see my shoes very well. I still need to get the hang of using a tripod. I can't seem to get a full shot without completely angling the camera downwards?
Please if anybody has any advice do let me know!

Hope your all have a great weekend!

Shoe Junkie - Sarenza Ambassador Entry

Yes, I think it's safe to say that I am a self-confessed Shoe Junkie. With over 100 pairs the facts don't exactly lie in my favour to suggest otherwise (unless I was a centipede, in which case it would be deemed rather acceptable). However it still doesn't stop me from forever longing to expand my shoe collection. The most recent additions to my collection were these two beauties.....

yes that's right. The same shoe in 2 colours! I loved the shoes, I loved both colours, I couldn't bring myself to decide between them so I thought "What-the-heck, I'll go for both!" I cunningly shopped around finding myself some bargains on the outlet stores on eBay making the cost of both pairs including postage £31.50; only £1.50 over the price I would have paid for just the black pair from the Mel site. Bargain!

For those of you that don't know, these shoes are from Mel the "sister-brand" of Melissa who have the oh-so lusted shoes resulting from a collaboration with Vivienne Westwood - The Lady Dragon Heart Shoes!

£143.70

Admittedly the purchase of the Mel Wedges were a mere substitution for a pair. But after browsing the Sarenza site and seeing these gorgeous beauties- the perfect nude pink with a METALLIC red heart edged in gleaming gold, I am in serious shoe heaven!! I would die for a pair of these shoes (obviously not literally as then I wouldn't get the pleasure of wearing them) Better still they come in a 6.5 meaning no more of the worrying "Will a 6 be too small" or "Will a 7 be too big"
Also not only would I look super stylish, sporting these with many a pretty dress come summer time, but I can also say I'm doing my bit for the environment as all Melissa shoes are made entirely from recycled plastic!

I can safely say, if I were to become a Sarenza Ambassador I would be in SHOE HEAVEN! Getting to shop for shoes monthly and then getting to blog about the beauties definitely sounds like a dream to me!

For those of you interested in entering to become a Sarenza Embassador yourself, you can find the details how here

And for the rest of you, wish me lots of luck! :)

Guest Post - Looking Beautiful in the Face of Cancer

A lovely lady named Jackie Clark of the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance contacted me recently asking for the opportunity to feature a guest post on my blog.
As many people will be touched by cancer at some point in their lives; whether they be affected themselves or it be a family member, I thought Jackie's post on how to staying feeling beautiful whilst suffering with cancer could be beneficial......

Many people have been at risk for cancer without even realizing it. Asbestos exposure, smoking, carcinogens in food and other serious problems simply can't be foreseen sometimes. Getting cancer can often be too much for many people to bear. Hearing the words leukemia, breast cancer, mesothelioma, skin cancer and others can feel like you are moments away from death.

However, a cancer diagnosis doesn't have to be your death sentence. One way that you can help beat back the seriousness of cancer is through looking beautiful and feeling beautiful in your skin. Focusing on fashion may seem like a rather trite thing to do while you are fighting for your life. However, it can offer many benefits that, while not functioning as a cure, may help you immeasurably.

One way that looking beautiful can help you is to boost your self-esteem. Cancer and cancer treatments can leave you feeling sick and looking sick. You may not feel beautiful when you look at yourself and see your hair has fallen out or that your skin is deathly white. This can quickly drop your self-esteem, cause depression and make it harder for you to fight back against cancer.

Avoid this pitfall by treating yourself to a great new wardrobe. Pick out clothes that suit your personal style and create individual outfits for a wide variety of situations. Create casual and formal outfits that are accessorized with necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Make sure all the pieces of your outfit are color coordinated and that they look cute together.

Dress around the negatives in your look to make yourself look great. Wear beautiful hats that highlight your skin tone and eyes. Choose colors that make your skin look more thick and full, as you may get pale during your treatments. Carry your head tall while wearing a cute person on your arm that really shows off your fashion sense.

Focusing on your fashion sense can show off a power and sense of purpose that others will notice. People will praise you for your strength and courage and help give you hope to succeed. This hope is vital in beating back cancer and you will need it anyway you can get it.

An improved sense of self can actually contribute to a more positive outlook against your disease. It can give you a focus and a drive to survive that is can not only make you feel better but may help against the disease. A tired, depressed and flaccid person isn't as likely to beat back cancer as an energetic, positive and fully active person. So, if you have been diagnosed with cancer and are undergoing treatment, consider getting a new wardrobe today.

If any of you have any questions I'm sure Jackie will be more than happy to answer. She can be found on twitter at @JakieClrk

Babyliss Big Hair

A few weeks before Christmas I purchased the much talked about Babyliss Conical Wand of which I fell in love with. I then heard many a good thing about the Babyliss Big Hair, so when I saw it with a shiny red "Half Marked Price" sticker on in Wilkinson's (making it only £20) I decided to grab myself a piece of the action!

The Babyliss Big Hair is a 700W rotating 50mm ceramic brush with ionic technology to give volume and shine whilst drying. (It also has a wopping 3 year guarantee!) I first rough dried my hair with my usual dryer and then sectioned my hair off. The dryer has 2 heat settings plus a cool setting. I decided to use the highest setting as my hair is rather long.

The device is simple to use but a little complicated to explain so for any who are interested here's a "How To" from Babyliss

As my hair is long, I found the device gave my hair a lot more body through the lengths and I left it to spin towards the end of my hair to add some shape.

The following pictures were taken 6 hours after first using the device and after several hours shopping. As you can see there's still plenty of body to my hair.

Overall I am very pleased with the device, to have achieved these results first time with no prior practise was fantastic! I think the results will only get better with use. My hair was soft to the touch, shiny and had bounce all day. I also believe this would work even better on shorter hair with lots of layers resulting in lots of body around the roots. As my hair is long, the weight tends to drag root lift down a little.

Have you tried the Babyliss Big Hair? Have you thought about trying it?
Do let me know your thoughts!

My week in photos

Hi guys, I know I haven't posted properly in a long while. I was poorly over Christmas so didn't do much celebration. No sooner was I better than it was back to placement which has really been taking it out of me meaning by the time I'm home and had tea I've been wanting to fall into bed. Anyway I got myself a new phone contract so I thought I'd share with you a few snaps of how I've spent my week. Hopefully I should be gettin back into the swing of blogging soon! :)
Indulging in some Christmas Chocolate
Jasmine - likes to sit on her bottom
One of my new baby Guinea pigs - Lily
Cats all fascinated by the new guinea pigs
A sale bargain - £10
Finally jumped on the magnetized polish bandwagon - in love. Nails have snapped short over Christmas though :(
Nice clear view of the TV
Nice New Bed :)
So those are my snaps from 7-14th Jan :) This weekend I spent my Saturday shopping with my Mum before relaxing with a cheeky Dominoes pizza with the other half watching Leverage. Sunday saw me resting in bed with severe neck pain - of which I am suffering with now. So 2011 ended with the flu, and 2012 started with neck pain. Things can only go up from here (fingers crossed).

Hope you all had a great weekend!
